ABOUT THE PROGRAM
With funding from the Australian Government's Solar Cities initiative, the Adelaide Solar City consortium is working with industry, businesses and the local community to rethink the way they produce and use energy. The Solar Cities program has two objectives:
Demonstrate the economic and environmental impacts of integrating cost-reflective pricing with the concentrated uptake of solar, energy efficiency and smart metering technologies; and
Identify and implement options for addressing barriers to distributed solar generation, energy efficiency and electricity demand management for grid-connected urban areas.
The northern areas of Salisbury, Tea Tree Gully and Playford are the key focus of this innovative 'real world' trial. The suburbs of Adelaide and North Adelaide are also eligible to take part. Take advantage of a whole range of energy and money-saving deals - only available through the Adelaide Solar City. The Adelaide Solar City is an initiative of the Australian Government. It is delivered in Adelaide by a consortium comprising Big Switch Projects, ANZ, Delfin Lend Lease, Origin Energy, BP Solar and Salisbury Council.
SAVE UP TO $350 EACH YEAR OFF POWER BILLS!
Residents of Salisbury, Tea Tree Gully, Playford and Adelaide City Council areas are invited to book an Adelaide Solar City home energy consultation and save up to $350 each year off power bills.
By reducing the energy consumption of your household you can make big energy savings, become a solar citizen and take part in the fight against climate change. Even small things you do can make a big difference. There are many factors that affect energy use in the home including insulation, windows, draughts, heating, cooling, hot water systems and major appliances.
Our consultants will visit you to conduct a thorough assessment of your household's energy use. A typical energy consultation lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the size and layout of your home. We'll follow up with a comprehensive report within 10 working days. Our reports are personalised and contian:
- A prioritised list of all major opportunities for improving the energy efficiency of your home to reduce power bills and greenhouse gas emissions
- Recommendations for energy-saving measures that can be implemented at low cost or free of charge.
PLUS
If you're currently using incandescent light bulbs we'll also supply up to 6 compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) free of charge. If you don't have a water-efficient showerhead we can provide you with one - also free of charge! The free CFLs and showerhead will help reduce your energy bills.
Note that most houses are suitable for installing the CFL's and/or the showerhead, however it may not always be possible to do this.
